Delegation from DOMI Biotechnology Co., Ltd., led by Chairman Mr. Yu Li, recently visited Director H.E Ngin Chhay headquarters of the General Department of Agriculture of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries to gain a deeper understanding of the planting and factory construction of agricultural products such as coconuts and durian in Cambodia.

The delegation attending the symposium also included Mr. KEN LO, Vice President of The Cambodia China Friendship Collaboration Association (CCFCA), Mr. Tong Yitao, Chairman of X Capital Investment Company, Ms. EAR Sophea CEO, and Mr. Lin Youyuan, Chief Representative of The Cambodia China Friendship Collaboration Association (CCFCA) in Greater China.

Chairman Mr. Yu Li first introduced the purpose of the visit. He said that DOMI Biotechnology Co., Ltd. focuses on the production of fruits and beverages, mainly exporting fresh agricultural products and deep-processed products to China, the United States, Australia, the Middle East and Italy. This delegation focused on Cambodia’s coconut and durian planting, primary processing and deep processing potential and investment opportunities.

He said that after several days of investigation, he found that Cambodia has great potential for agricultural development, especially the obvious advantages of continuous cultivated land and fertile land, which is a very good investment opportunity for the company.

He also said that the company has rich experience in coconut planting, primary processing and deep processing in Thailand. The purpose of this visit is to collect relevant field information in Cambodia. After returning, it will formulate an overall planning program and implement investment-related projects in Cambodia as soon as possible.

Director Yuancai warmly welcomed the delegation and introduced the planting scale and export situation of coconut and durian in Cambodia. He said that the planting area of coconut and durian in Cambodia is only 20,000 and 10,000 hectares respectively, of which coconut has obtained the permission to export to the Chinese market, and there are currently 5 coconut factories, but there is no deep processing of coconut.

He said that as for the export of durian to the Chinese market, it is estimated that the deal will not be finalized until next year. However, the company can seize the opportunity this year and make a good start by investing in durian agricultural products in Cambodia, so that it can be exported to the Chinese market as soon as the opportunity arises next year.

As for investment methods in Cambodia, Director Ngin Chhay also suggested that companies can choose from a variety of investment methods, including cooperating with companies that currently enjoy economic concession rights to plant coconuts or durians, or choosing their own land for planting, or signing purchase contracts with local farmers to obtain coconuts or durians for processing and sale to foreign markets.

He also added that Cambodia currently does not have the capacity to export coconuts, and only exports a small amount of durian. The output of these two agricultural products is not high, so there is huge room for market development.

During the discussion, the two sides also had an in-depth discussion on the planting scale, types, exports, output, land conditions, etc. of coconut and durian in Cambodia, and received a detailed response from Director Ngin Chhay. Both parties also left contact information for future communication.
