[News Report] In order to further explore cooperation in culture and tourism, facilitate trade exchanges, and expand people-to-people interactions, an exchange symposium between Siem Reap and Dayi County was held on 4 June in Siem Reap City, Cambodia.The meeting was jointly attended and chaired by Mr. Nuen Nubtyra, Mayor of Siem Reap City, and Ms. Yue Huiyu, Deputy County Mayor of the Dayi County People’s Government, Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China.
Also attending the meeting were Mr. Lin Youyuan, Chief Representative for the China Region of the Cambodia China Friendship Collaboration Association, Mr. Chea Khorn, Vice President of the Association, Ms. Ear Sophea, Chief Executive Officer of X Capital Investment Co., Ltd., along with several other Chinese and Cambodian representatives.
Ms. Yue Huiyu, Deputy County Mayor of Dayi County, stated at the symposium that she felt greatly honored to lead the Dayi County delegation on a visit to the beautiful city of Siem Reap and to be invited to participate in this exchange meeting between the two localities.
She pointed out that Siem Reap, as one of Cambodia’s most important cultural and tourism cities, is home to the world-renowned Angkor Archaeological Park and possesses abundant resources in the fields of history, culture, and tourism development. Dayi County, on the other hand, is known for its distinctive cultural and tourism attractions, including Xiling Snow Mountain and Anren Ancient Town.
She emphasized that the two sides enjoy strong complementarities and significant potential for cooperation. This exchange serves as an important opportunity to promote the establishment of a friendly cooperative relationship between the two localities and lays a solid foundation for deeper collaboration in the areas of trade, culture, people-to-people exchanges, and tourism development.
Ms. Yue Huiyu expressed her hope that the signing of the Letter of Intent for a sister-city relationship would serve as a new starting point for both sides to further strengthen the promotion of cultural and tourism resources, expand trade exchanges, and enhance people-to-people interactions.
She emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation in areas such as specialty agricultural products and handicrafts, while encouraging exchanges and mutual visits among enterprises, young people, and professionals in the cultural and tourism sectors. She also expressed her expectation that the consensus reached between the two sides would be translated into more tangible outcomes, achieving mutual benefit, win-win cooperation, and shared development.
Meanwhile, Mr. Nuen Nubtyra, Mayor of Siem Reap, extended a warm welcome to Ms. Yue Huiyu and the Dayi County delegation, as well as to all participants attending the symposium.
He noted that both Siem Reap and Dayi County possess rich cultural resources and unique local products. By deepening cooperation, the two sides can promote cultural products, handicrafts, souvenirs, agricultural products, and other specialty goods in each other’s markets, thereby creating broader opportunities for collaboration and expanding the scope of bilateral cooperation.
He further pointed out that both sides can strengthen cooperation in areas such as trade exhibitions, cultural exchanges, and tourism promotion, thereby creating platforms for communication and collaboration among businesses, investors, and tourism industry stakeholders. Such initiatives would help enhance mutual understanding and jointly explore new opportunities for development.
He emphasized that the signing of the Letter of Intent to Establish a Friendly Cooperative Relationship between Siem Reap and Dayi County marks an important milestone in the development of friendly relations between the two localities.
Looking ahead, both sides will continue to deepen cooperation in the fields of tourism, culture, and trade, while actively exploring additional priority areas for collaboration. Through these efforts, they aim to promote shared development and bring greater tangible benefits to the people of both regions.
Mr. Lin Youyuan, Chief Representative for the China Region of the Cambodia China Friendship Collaboration Association, stated that the Cambodia National Shop, jointly established by X Capital Investment Co., Ltd. and the Dayi County People’s Government, was recently officially inaugurated and commenced operations in Dayi County.
He noted that the Cambodia National Shop has become an important link facilitating this efficient return visit and serves as a significant platform for strengthening cooperation between the two sides.
As an important showcase for Cambodian specialty products and cultural heritage, the center not only helps enhance public awareness and understanding of Cambodia among local Chinese communities, but also provides an effective platform for business matching and economic cooperation between enterprises from both regions.
Mr. Lin Youyuan added that the Cambodia National Shop will continue to promote practical cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, and people-to-people exchanges, further strengthening the partnership and fostering mutually beneficial development between both sides.
During the meeting, both sides highly commended the positive role of the Cambodia National Shop in Dayi County in promoting Cambodia–China economic and trade cooperation.
The participants noted that the platform not only helps showcase and promote Cambodian specialty products to a wider Chinese consumer market, thereby enhancing the visibility and influence of Cambodian brands, but also serves as an efficient bridge for enterprises from both regions to engage in business matching, market expansion, and industrial cooperation. It is expected to inject new momentum into the further development of bilateral economic and trade relations.
In addition, both sides exchanged views on strengthening cooperation in the tourism sector. They encouraged reputable and qualified tourism enterprises and travel agencies from both localities and countries to establish closer partnerships, jointly organize tourism promotion activities, and develop distinctive tourism products and premium travel itineraries.
These efforts aim to further enhance Chinese tourists’ awareness of and interest in Cambodia’s tourism resources, attract more Chinese visitors to Cambodia, and promote the joint development of cultural, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges between the two regions.
